Blue Majority: Final Day of the Quarter!

Today is the very last day of the first fundraising quarter. Money raised today will get counted in the reports that get released in two weeks; cash taken in after today won’t get toted up until July. So please make a donation to the Blue Majority candidates – or any favorite Dems of yours – today.

We’re thrilled that we met our goal of 6,500 donations for the page. Now we’re trying to bring each candidate up to 1,000 gifts apiece. Can we do it by the end of the day today? Let’s go for it!

P.S. Please tell us who you’ve given to this past quarter in comments, whether on Blue Majority or elsewhere.

  1. I’ve only donated to two candidates this quarter:

John Edwards (gave about three times)

    and

    Bill Gillespie (GA-01)

If I have some funds left over from this paycheck, I plan to donate to some candidates.

  2. And this is the first election i’ve ever felt motivated to give. I’ve finally found two candidates that I’m willing to support with my words and my wallet! Barack Obama and Tom Perriello. Both of them have moved me with their messages of change, ended my apathy. and have earned by everlasting respect.

  4. I’d given to Barack Obama, Donna Edwards, Jeanne Shaheen, and Darcy Burner earlier, and I just gave to Obama, Leslie Byrne, Gary Trauner, and Rick Noriega — some of them because they still haven’t gotten to 1,000.

I found from experience that just letting ActBlue split the contribution up among all the candidates isn’t such a good idea. I once ended up giving something like $4.50 to each candidate, and then I’m sure some of them ended up spending more than that on sending me junk mail. I hope candidates are figuring out that sending snail mail to ActBlue contributors is a waste.

  5. off the top of my head (more likely exist, but I dont remember the specifics atm):

    2x to Donna Edwards (MD-04)

    2x to Mark Pera (IL-03)

    3x to Rick Noriega (TX-Sen)

    2x to Scott Kleeb (NE-Sen)

4x to John Edwards (US Pres)

2x to Chris Dodd (US Pres)

2x to Barack Obama (US Pres)

    1x to Tom Allen (ME-Sen)

    1x to Tom Periello (VA-05)

    4x to Darcy Burner (WA-08)

    2x to Eric Massa (NY-29)

    2x to Dan Maffei (NY-25)

    1x to Jon Powers (NY-26)

    2x to Bill Foster (IL-14)

    2x to Dan Seals (IL-10)

Have also given to Charlie Brown, Leslie Byrne, Gary Trauner and a few others in the past year, although I dont remember how much or how often.

I give about $50-$75 a month to progressive candidates via Act Blue.

  6. I gave to Mark Pera, Darcy Burner, and today for the first time, Joe Garcia. This seems like a real strike-while-the-iron-is-hot situation for the three Cuban-American seats in south Florida, while the GOP brand is in the toilet re: immigration, and while Cuba policy is kind of in flux with Fidel’s retirement (hopefully meaning a lot of knee-jerk anti-Castro Republicans are taking stock of what else might matter to them).

I know Burner is a top priority for the DCCC, but I’m still going to send some money her way since I’m sitting here at work in WA-08 right now. (Of course, soon I’m going to head home to nice blue WA-07…)

  7. This is my first election cycle really of full-on blogging and paying attention to every race.  I’m also a broke college student who cant afford to donate, but I found it deep down to send $15 to Nancy for her kick-ass fight against retroactive immunity.  She is going to be in the toughest re-election fight of probably all our incumbents (including Landrieu) so I gave what I could.

I plan on donating to Obama (after I figure out groceries…) and then Ashwin Madia MN-3 after he wins the DFL endorsement in 2-3 short weeks.  Maybe also Mark Udall since CO will need some help and Steve Sarvi MN-2 soon as well.

  8. Earlier in the quarter I donated to Obama, Mark Pera, and Donna Edwards.  And Larry Lessig.

Last year I donated to Darcy Burner, Pera, Donna Edwards, Chris Dodd, and some other congressional challengers, but I can’t remember which ones.  Probably Larry Kissell, John Doolittle, and Vic Wulsin, or something like that.

I don’t give to incumbents (unless there’s special circumstances), and I try not to give to folks who have already reached Red to Blue.

I think the current slate on Blue Majority is much too safe, honestly.  Franken has boatloads of Hollywood money, like half the slate is on Red to Blue right now (six of em I think), Foster and Donna Edwards are incumbents!  I prefer that the point of Blue Majority be to bump races up a tier, either from second to first or third to second, and I don’t think most of the listings on there right now are doing that, partly because most of them are first tier already.  If you’re getting the DCCC’s money already, I’d prefer to see netroots money go to another candidate who also deserves DCCC money, but isn’t getting it yet.  Like Tom Perriello.

  9. Tom Perriello

    VoteVets

    Gilda Reed

    Steve Cohen

    Martin Heinrich

    Scott Kleeb

    Jerry McNerney

    Andrew Rice

    Progressive Patriots Fund

    Larry Kissell

    Eric Massa

    Dan Seals

    Larry Grant

    Nancy Boyda

    Barry Welsh

    all small donations, unfortunately.

  10. I’m a Canadian citizen and thus cannot donate…however, I fought for some dollars from some American friends to give to:

    BARACK OBAMA

    Mark Udall

    Al Franken

    Andrew Rice

    Larry LaRocco

    Rick Noriega

    Scott Kleeb

    Jon Powers

    Dan Maffei

    Eric Massa

    Annette Taddeo

    Raul Martinez

    Joe Garcia

    Bill O’Neill

    Gotta keep this momentum up!!!

  11. So far I’ve given money to Ed Fallon (IA-03, district I live in) to take down the old Boz. And I’ve also given to James Van Bruggen (IA House-04), I would love to see this seat go blue since the republican incumbent Dwayne Alons hasn’t faced a general election challenge ever! And the last time he faced a primary challenge was 10 years ago! Iowa could actually get universal health care if we can expand our currently narrow Democratic majority! How exciting. Oh, and I have given to John Edwards. I’m definitely giving to more candidates across the country. A couple that first come to mind for donations include Leslie Byrne, Andrew Rice, etc… And since the DNC’s decided to target IA-04, which I thought was safe republican (and so apparently did CQ Politics), I’ll donate to whoever is the nominee there.
